BBEC has had a concert band for five years now which has performed at many concerts and parades such as the Rotary Club concert at the Guild Hall.   The Band consists of Trumpets, Flutes, Clarinets, Saxophones and Drums. We practice every Wednesday rotating between an early(3:05-4:15) and a late rehearsal(6:00-8:00) which gives everyone in the band a chance to practice! The band is led and conducted by Mr Grindrod who puts a massive amount of his own time and perseverance into this  well known band with a huge reputation for brilliant performances!

Making Music this Christmas!!

Students in the music department have enjoyed the following activities in the run up to Christmas:
  • Carol singing at the old people's home where Mr Cocker's dad lives. This was a very sucessful event at which we received plenty of support from our audience. Some even joined in and sang along. After the singing we were offered plenty of mince pies and drinks.
  • The Christmas service for the year 7s. This was a huge hit! The nativity play went down a storm and the choir sang like angels. Our performance for parents in the evening  was even more sucessful (probably because mince pies and sherry were served after the performance!)
  • The Christmas Concert. We have been rehearsing hard for a long time to be ready for this big event: extra band practice,, extra choir practice -  you name it we did it! But did it pay off?   Watch this space for a full report.
