BBEC Swing Band

Hello everybody,
Beth here to tell you all about BBEC's Swing Band which performed at Mr Morris' assemblies during open evening. Swing Band is organised by woodwind teacher Mrs Williams. We practice at Thursday lunch times and very often get asked to perform at events inside and outside school, such as open evening. At present, Swing Band consists of: 4 saxophones, 3 trumpets, 2 guitarists, a trombone, a pianist and a drummer.
Now that you know a little more about us I guess I'd better tell you about our most recent performance - open evening. For the performance, we had to choose three pieces to play whilst parents and children were arriving, and so, at a previous rehearsal we decided to play through the pieces we already knew and then took a vote. So, the pieces chosen were: "Brain Sprain"; "Kiss the Girl"( due to the request of Mr Grindrod) and "Gimme Some Lovin'". And I am proud to announce that at both the assemblies we received a massive round of applause.
I really enjoyed performing at open evening and hope there are many more performances to come. To keep up to date watch this space!

It's a first!

As some of you might know BBEC and Archbishop are going to join their choirs and jazz bands and go on tour. Even though this trip is a long way off with it being in 2012 and all, you have a right to know! We are going to perform two concerts in the Netherlands; we will also be heading into Germany for a day. More news as it comes!

Rotary Club Concert 2011

This was my first year at the Rotary Club Concert and hopefully the first of many. I really enjoyed myself and I think that the concert was a complete success! It was said that the choir from Broughton and Archbishop sang beautifully. People commented particularly on "Can you hear me?" Which is a song with sign language. People said that the sign language looked beautiful. The band were also a huge hit. I think that because we played the well-known song "Tide is High" everyone liked it.

Easter Concert 2011

This years Easter Concert was the best there's been so far! We had: Year 11 students playing solos; Duets; Quartets; the trio and other vocal groups; the keyboard club and the guitar group. We also had all the old favourites such as the Choir, the Swing Band and the Concert Band. For this concert the band had learnt 2 new songs in 2 weeks which is definitely a great achievement!
