Hello again,
Beth Cuckson and Oliver Dunkley (one of the new members of the reporting team for the BBEC music blog) here to keep you up to date on all the activity going on in the music dept. Today we're going to tell you about our performances at the Awards Evening and the Christmas Concert.

At the Awards Evening we had the Concert Band, the Vocal Trio and Quartet and the Swing Band showing everyone what the music dept. are made of! The Concert Band opened the Concert with "Hey Mr Banjo" which went down a storm! We then heard the Trio's unique "Polly Wolly Doodle" which was a pleasant surprise! After the presentation of Tutor Group and Subject Prizes. The Swing Band performed "Spinning Wheel" and then, after the presentation of the Year 11 Certificates, the lively "At The Hop". We then had the presentation of the Speacial Awards followed by the Vocal Quartet who blew us away with "Can't Help Lovin Dat Man". Finally, after a vote of thanks by our head-boy and head-girl: Tom Flewder-Barker and Kirsty Brockelhurst, the Concert Band ended the Concert on a high with "Just The Way You Are" - sadly thought, not the song by Bruno Mars!

The penultimate performance of the first half went to the Choir, who sang "Mary's Lullaby" with solo's from Laura Oldfield and Beth Wolstenholme. The Concert Band finished off the first half with the Partridge and the Pear. The second half was started off by the Swing Band with three numbers : Let it Snow, God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen and Frosty the Snowman.
